TAAN Model Trek
Machhapuchhre TAAN Model Trek is newly defined trekking trail developed by Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) western Region Chapter- Pokhara, with the aims to develop Pokhara and its surroundings. The Trail passes through seven major VDC's and holds the mesmerizing potential of Trekking and Hiking activities.
TANN provides training to eighty women participants from five VCD's from trekking areas for subjects like cooking, baking, hospitality and home stay.
Machhepuchhre TAAN Model Trek holds mesmerizing views of mountain ranges and scenic beauty, rich vegetation and cultures, indigenous lifestyles of local people. So it is the perfect place to trek for ethnic dwellers.
Itinerary
Day 01: Upon arrival transfer to Kathmandu Hotel by our representative. O/n (overnight) Kathmandu Hotel.
Day 02: After breakfast half a day Kathmandu heritage tour, evening meeting with the trip crews (guide and porters) assembling the necessary equipment for trek and leisure on your own.
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, transfer to Pokhara hotel.
Day 04: After breakfast start your beautiful panoramic trek passing Lachowk to Ribhan.
Day 05: Trek from Ribhan to Chichime Kharka to Khumai. o/n lodge
Day 06: From Khumai trek to Korchung and again back to Kharka. o/n guesthouse
Day 07: Trek from Kharka to Takra via Gibli. o/n Gibli
Day 08: From Takra trek to Lwanghalel through Imu and Kwiwan. o/n lodge
Day 09: Trek from Lwanghalel to Mardi Pool. o/n guest house
Day 10: from Mardi Pool back to Pokhara. o/n Pokhara
Day 11: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu. Have a leisure time in Kathmandu. o/n hotel
Day 12: Transfer from hotel to Airport. Fly back safely to own destination.
Lumbini Village Walk
Lumbini is the birth place of Lord Buddha which lies to the south-west of Nepal in Terai Region. It is the foundation of world peace, UNESCO world heritage and pilgrims for Buddhists. The Mayadevi Temple, Sacred Garden, Ashoka Pillar and International Monastic zone are the major attractions in Lumbini. Not only this but also the walk through the surrounding villages around Lumbini provides an opportunity to learn more about Terai culture, Terai landscapes and vegetation found. Terai has its own flavor distinctive to hills, for the land is flat and the culture is vastly different. Peoples of different religions are living here but dominated by Hindus.
A walk through the village helps in interaction with warm and hospitable local people, buying their authentic handicraft and observing their traditional rituals which bring one closer to understand the diversity of Terai culture in Nepal.The traditional villagers offer a peek at agro-based rural lifestyle, colorful costumes and festivals which they celebrate with much joy and enthusiasm and gracious hospitality. Their main occupation is agriculture. Due to various Casts like Tharu, Yadav, Lodh, Harizen, Kurmi, Gupta and muslims. The local people speaks Bhojpuri, Hindi, Nepali and their own mother languages. Tourists can also visit the Temples and Museums and also the recently set up Tharu Museum. Visitor can also pay charge to visit local museums. People celebrate different festivals like holi, dashain, tihar, nag panchami. Tourist can also part take in cultural ceremonies.
The Wetland areas, Lakes and village provide the bird watching opportunities. Bird watching sites like Lake Karabolaha that has a crane sanctuary, Lake Punnihawa and Khudabagar offers cultural sight in the village. Walk through the village can have a near observation of the local traditional costumes, traditional ceremonies, agro-based lifestyles, festivals, buying their colorful baskets made by indigenous women and handicrafts. The people live in ideational stone tend house or thatched roof house built from mud and bamboo bars but modern houses are also found depending on the area. There are also archaeological sites in Lumbini Adarsha that is 4th to 5th century old. Tourists can also take a rickshaw or a bullock cart for a ride.
Dudh kunda
Cultural Trek
Dudh kunda is a holy lake
lying at the height of 4,560 m at the lap of Mt. Numbur. Dudh kunda means
"Milk Lake". The trek to Dudh kunda starts from Phaplu-back to Salleri
or it can be also combined with passing through beautiful settlement of native
Khaling Rai and Sherpas.It offers the beautiful view of dense woods of
Rhododendron and wild life full of diversity. The Dudh kunda Lake is believed to
be the abode of Lord Shiva. Dudh kunda Lake is sacred river so it is believed
that taking a dip in this lake absolves the sins and wishes are
fulfilled. Dudh kunda Trail is one of the newly identified trekking trails in the
lower Solukhumbu Region. During full moon nights in the month of August, a week
long celebrations is held by pilgrims and jhakris (Shaman priests).
Limbu
Cultural Trail
The Limbu Cultural Trail is
one of the new trekking Trail in the north east of Nepal. This Trail is between
Kabeli and Khaksewa rivers which offers exciting opportunity to get an insight
of tradition, culture and rural lifestyle of the Limbu people dominant in this
region. Limbu Cultural Trail starts from Phungphung and passes through Suketar,
Lalikharka, Kande Bhanjyang, Simbu, Phungphung, Phumpe and ends at Mamankhe. In
Mamankhe 95% of the population is Limbu (Mabo). This valley has also an another
option of joining the Kanchenjunga trail.
Limbu Trail is rich in cardamom
farms, Himalayan flora and fauna and untouched natural landscapes. In the Limbu
villages, Limbu communities perform cultural dances like Dhaan Naach, Chyabrung
Naach and Bijuwa Naach to welcome the visitiors. visitors can also enjoy the
local drinks and local foods that includes Tongba (alcoholic beverages) and
Sukuti (dry meat) and participate in the activities of the local people and
hiking along the unrefined trails crossing the ridge offering some of the best
of the Himalayas.
Tamang
Heritage Trail
Tamang Heritage Trail lies
in the Langtang area which takes you through verdant midlands of Nepal
experiencing the beauty of this mountain region and culture of the people
living here. This trek is also known as the superb Trekking in Nepal. The Trail
passes through traditional Tamang village where life, cultures and crafts have
been unchanged since the beginning of the settlement. Nepal is said to have a
fight with Tibet many years before for salt. In earlier days, real Tibetans
were not given Nepalese citizenship. At this area, people are engaged in salt
Trade. They sell Changra meat with foodstuffs from the south.
Warm traditional welcome
hosted by the locals, their elaborate costumes , rich architecture of their
mountain houses and the ancient monasteries and places of pray add color to the
experience of this Trail.
Tourists can also take hot
bath in the healing hot-water spring at Tatopani before reaching Nagthali.
Tamang valley offers home
stay facilities both of national and international levels and they serve menu
which consists of rice, Tibetan bread, Syakpa (Sherpa stew),potato, Tibetan tea
and Birdlime wine. Tamangs are engaged in
rearing livestock farming and trading with Kyirong. Briddim is a living
museum reflecting traditional Tamang culture and lifestyles.
Thus, the visitors can
observe the wilderness experience through beautiful landscapes of alpines
terrain, flat meadows and rhododendron forests.
Pathibhara
Cultural Trail
Pathibhara Cultural Trek is
another new Trekking Trail in Taplejung District. It’s located at an altitude
of 3794 m in Tapethok VDC, 19 km from Phungling, the district headquarters of
Taplejung.It is a pilgrimage destination for both Hindus and Buddhists. The
Buddhists of the surroundings area light lamps at the temple on full-moon
nights and Hindus pack the temple on special ocassions.The goddess Pathibhara
is believed to have miraculous power and is said to have fulfilled the wishes
of her Devotees. It is believed that hundreds of sheep got lost and the
shepherds prayed to get their sheep back. Surprisingly they dreamed of goddess.
She asked them to do Ritual sacrifice of some sheep to get their lost sheeps.It
is said when they did that they found their lost sheeps back, and from then
onwards they started to worship Pathibhara Devi.
The best time to visit
temples are from March to June and September to November. From Pathibhara the
trail descends to Phedi towards Suketar.
Visitors can enjoy the view of thick forest ecosystem with diversities
of Birds, butterflies, flowers and wild life and exciting mountain views of
Kanchenjunga Range.
The Numbur
Cheese Circuit
The Number cheese circuit
lies in Ramechhap District of Nepal. It a newly developed trekking Trail
passing through the Khimti and Likhu river valleys. The beautiful valleys are
in the Lap of Everest and Rowling Regions. This circuit is named after Number
Peak (6959 m) and one of Nepal's First Yak cheese factories established in 1957.The
elevation ranges from (488 m) in the Sunkoshi river valley to Numburchuli peak (69909
m).This circuits provides visitors to enjoy breathtaking sceneries, mesmerizing
mountain peaks like Langtang, Jugal, Gaurishankar and Numburchuli Himal and
also the unique cultural and traditional lifestyles of Sherpa people. This
circuit provides the ample opportunity to observe rich biodiversity along the
Khimti and Likhu river valleys, ranging from temperate to alpine vegetation.
Visitors can also observe pure Sherpa culture and Traditional lifestyle at
Khahare, Khachhewar, Kyama, Gumdel and Sherding. Furthermore, Newari Culture and
lifestyles can also be experienced at lapchane and in those villages. In April
and May rhododendrons bloom in profusion, eagles and musk deer well known as
Himalayan Thar a species of goat antelope can also be seen. A glimpse of the elusive
snow leopard can also be cactch if you are lucky.
Bandipur
Itinerary
The ancient Newari
settlement of Bandipur stretches from east to west on its mountain saddle
reflecting the architectural richness of Kathmandu valley in its pagoda roofs,
latticework windows, and stone-paved streets. One climbs through pristine
forests catching the historical trail at Dumre bazaar to arrive at a township
that has hardly changed. Bandipur retains its aged old cultural activities. The
dwelling are in the form of compact town houses, built of brick often with
orate windows and doorways. The roofs are made up of tin or slate. A
distinctive aspect of the bazaar is a covered veranda that extends through its
entire length, from shop front to shop front. It has many temples, shrines,
holy caves in and round Bandipur, innumerable festivals and Newari culture. It
offers the panoramic views of the central Himalayas, including jugal, Ganesh
Himal, Langtang, Gorkha Himal, Manasulu, Himalchuli, Buddha Himal, the
Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.
